Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 27, 2026

Parlivon is designed for private, in-person conversations. This Policy explains what we collect, why, and how it is handled. It complies with Canada's PIPEDA, Quebec's Law 25, and CASL for commercial email.

Data we collect

Account information (name, email, hashed password), subscription and billing metadata (via Stripe / Apple / Google — we never see full card numbers), device info for session management, and app preferences (language, theme, favorites).

Microphone

The microphone is only opened while you press and hold the mic button. Capture stops the instant you release.

Camera

The camera is used only while Camera Translate is active. Frames are processed for text detection and are not retained after the session ends.

What we send to translation providers

When Live translation is on, the audio you just recorded (or text you type) is sent to our translation provider so it can be transcribed and translated. The translated audio and text are returned to your device.

What we don't store

Parlivon does not permanently store raw microphone audio, and does not keep text transcripts of your conversations. Session history only records metadata such as duration and turn count. You can delete this at any time.

Your rights (PIPEDA / Law 25 / GDPR)

You can access, correct, port or delete your data. Email info@parlivon.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Privacy Officer (Quebec Law 25)

Our designated Privacy Officer can be reached at info@parlivon.com. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (CAI) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Breach notification

If a confidentiality incident presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify affected users and the relevant regulator without undue delay, as required by Law 25 and PIPEDA.

Data transfers

Data may be processed outside your province or country (including in the United States by our translation and infrastructure providers). We use contractual and technical safeguards to protect it.

Retention

Account data is kept while your account is active and for up to 90 days after deletion, after which it is permanently removed except where retention is required by law.

Cookies and analytics

We use only essential cookies needed for authentication and session management. We do not sell your data or run third-party advertising trackers.

Marketing communications (CASL)

You will only receive marketing email if you explicitly consent. Every marketing message includes a one-click unsubscribe. Transactional email (receipts, billing, security) is not marketing.

Children

Parlivon is not directed to children under 13 (under 16 in Quebec).

Changes

Material changes to this Policy are announced in-app before they take effect.
